In 2018, Brookings Institution, in a report posit that at the end of May 2018, Nigeria had about 87 million people in extreme poverty, compared with India’s 73 million. What is more, extreme poverty in Nigeria is growing by six people every minute. Rivers state with a population that is above 5 million is not an exception to this phenomenon and the need for organizations to assist the government in bridging the rich-poor gap becomes necessary. With this in view and following the command of our Lord Jesus Christ to assist the poor, JESUS CARES is taking the gospel to the next level by deliberately tackling hunger among people from different backgrounds.

Aims and Objectives

• Preach the gospel of Christ to as many as we are able to reach
• Provide feeding to the poor and those with relatively unstable sources of income
• Enhance the knowledge base of the society by providing aid and support for educational aspirations
• Assist in the discovery of talents
• Provide counselling to people of all ages
• Serve as a link between those willing to reach out to the needy and those in need

To achieve our goals and objectives, we shall continually pursue but will not limit ourselves to the following strategies:

EVANGELISM

• Outreaches and Crusades: Visiting remote communities where the level of poverty and hunger is very high, ministering God’s word and sharing welfare items such as cooked food, raw food items, clothing and proper profiling of people to ascertain their levels and areas of need.
• Launch hour fellowships: Intense worship session programs between the hours of 12pm and 1pm every Sunday. This fellowship is for all beneficiaries, staff and volunteers of JESUS CARES that reside in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
• Special Programs: Occasionally, there will be special programs held at the Office Complex where highly revered ministers will be invited from time to time.
• Talk Shows & Film Shows & Games: Recreational activities can bring people to a relaxed state where they are able to share among themselves. Through this, we will be able to reach
• Bible study: We will use digital and modern tools to teach the Bible in a more interactive and impactful manner.

FEEDING

• Serving cooked meals occasionally
• Sharing raw food items to the needy

EMPOWERMENT

• Enrollment of young and wiling adults that in skills acquisition centers
• Entrepreneurial training and short courses at the Office Complex
• Advanced training and development of already established artisans

EDUCATION

• Provision of Scholarships students who have potentials but do not have access to funding.
• Payment of examination fees for deserving people of all ages.
• Sponsorship for Tutorials and extra lessons to prepare students for major examinations such as WAEC, NECO, NABTEB and JAMB
